The GUI been changed to Ribbon bar design that we know from other MS products like outlook. This GUI change does not only apply to SCCM but to all new 2012 System Center products.
When you start the SCCM console you get this screen:
Fig. 1
The screen (Fig1) consists of:
· The ribbon
· The List view
· The Navigation Pane /Also called the Wunderbar
· The Results Pane
Let’s start with the Navigation Pane, it consists of workspaces and the nodes overview. We have 4 workspaces:
1. Administration
2. Software Library
3. Monitoring
4. Assets and Compliance
The nodes will change depending on the workspace you select:
The List view will display the same nodes:
The Results pane does the same, just a different view:
Depending on which node/sub-node you select the Content Pane changes and tabs are added at the bottom (easy to miss in the beginning):
The Ribbon is like the actions pane in 2007, its changes depending on which node/sub-node you select in the navigation pane:
- Most top level nodes display the search tab:
- The others display the home tab with specific actions related to the selected node/sub-node:
Right-click in the Results pane display’s almost the same actions as in the ribbon:
That’s a brief overview of the GUI in SCCM 2012
