Python Day 11

1.Average Scores

When I was in college, getting up for an 8 am Quiz was always a challenge for me, some professors had the policy take the average of a missing Quiz. Of course, Excel can do the job, since I want to be a real Data Scientist, we will learn how to find an average using Python.

Solution:

query_scores = student_marks[query_name]
#print("{0:.2f}".format(sum(query_scores)/(len(query_scores))))
print(sum(query_scores)/(len(query_scores)))

Output

56.00

Note: the regular sum will generate no decimal. "{0:.2f}".format is for the desired decimal place.

2. Python List Tricks

We will give an exmaple for the common options in a list: insert, print, remove, append, sort, pop, reverse.

list=[1,2,3,4,5]

#1\. insert 4 to 1st position
list.insert(1,4)
print(list)
[1, 4, 2, 3, 4, 5]

#2\. Remove:
##2a. Remove 2
list.remove(2)
print(list)
[1, 4, 3, 4, 5]
##2b. Remove the first element
list.remove(list[0])
print(list)
[4, 3, 4, 5]

#3\. Append: insert 8 in the end
list.append(8)
print(list)
[4, 3, 4, 5, 3, 8]

#4\. Sort: Sort the list
list.sort()
print(list)
[3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 8]

#5\. Pop: Pop the last element of the list
list.pop()
print(list)
[3, 3, 4, 4, 5]

#6\. Reverse: Reverse the list
list.reverse()
print(list)
[5, 4, 4, 3, 3]

Note: If we un-specify a position, pop will remove the last element.

Happy Studying! 😏
