Today I finished watching an episode of Modern Love. The title of this episode is A day Boy and a Night Girl.
Once upon a time, there was a witch who brought up two kids, a boy who only lived in the day and a girl who only lived at night. One day, the girl prolonged her night and she got to see the boy. She was terrified about the day because she never saw the sun. The boy promised to carry her in his arm until night. Then the night came, the boy was afraid. The girl let him lie on her legs and accompanied him to day.
The story tells us that in a relationship we should tolerate each other's habit, allow each other to be inherently oneself.
As for us, Joe let me be me all the time. I often force him to change. Out of love, he does. The last time we had a big fight was on 11th, Dec, 2022, reason being that I required him to improve his skills but he doesn't want to. In the end, I told him that we would divorce if he refused. He gave in.
I know, I know, I shouldn't force him to be others. But as a family, we should manage our life based on the interest of our family. As an individual, you can be you. I respect that. But in a marriage, especially when there are kids in your family, you should manage your life based on everyone's interest.
