解決方法:

You need to add on the begging of /mhn/server/mhn/api/models.py the following:

import sys
reload(sys)
sys.setdefaultencoding('utf-8')

then look for ref.text = r and replace with ref.text = r.decode('utf-8')

save the file. remove mhn.db (in order to avoid errors related to db uniqueness data import) rerun sudo ./install.sh and all should be fine.
