根據Google著名的工程師，也是Unix系統的主要貢獻者之一Rob Pike在Google+上發佈的消息，C語言之父，Unix之父，圖靈獎獲得者Dennis Ritchie於家中去世。
Dennis Ritchie（丹尼斯·利奇），全稱丹尼斯·麥卡利斯泰爾·利奇（Dennis MacAlistair Ritchie，1941年9月9日－2011年10月12日，出生於美國紐約。利奇在哈佛大學學習物理學和應用數學畢業，1967年他進入貝爾實驗室，生前是朗訊技術公司系統軟件研究部門的領導人。1983年他與肯·湯普遜一起獲得了圖靈獎。理由是他們“研究發展了通用的操作系統理論，尤其是實現了 UNIX操作系統”。1999年兩人爲發展C語言和Unix操作系統一起獲得了美國國家技術獎章。

I just heard that, after a long illness, Dennis Ritchie (dmr) died at home this weekend. I have no more information.I trust there are people here who will appreciate the reach of his contributions and mourn his passing appropriately.
He was a quiet and mostly private man, but he was also my friend, colleague, and collaborator, and the world has lost a truly great mind.
