一 前言
從今年六月份開始,一直到節前,都在給數據中心進行我公司平臺部分的技能培訓,其中也穿插了一些Java服務開發、運維相關的知識點介紹。
令人驚訝的是,這樣一個非常專業的運維團隊對於JVM參數配置的認知十分模糊,甚至對於應用線程數配置、通信通道寬度調節,乃至於基於F5的負載均衡都不甚瞭解。
我不禁感嘆,自打Java問世以來,它的成功無需太多花哨的修飾,因爲它成功的降低了整個行業的入門標準,這不能不說是一件好事。但同樣的,它也成爲了開發者進階的關隘。
Java的成功絕大部分得益於虛擬機(JVM,Java Virtual Machine)的設計,它完美的將內存管理權限從開發者手中解放,讓開發者能夠更加專注於業務設計(業務Coding是最廉價的,但也是一個企業最盈利的,以廉價的勞動力換來長遠的業務收入,賺),如果我們想打破桎梏,只能是工作之餘,將通信、內存管理等技能抓起來。
那麼從這一篇開始,我會分幾篇內容來分別對JVM的一些常規參數配置進行介紹,本文重點介紹和GC(Garbage Collection,垃圾回收)相關的參數配置。
二 配置JVM參數的入口
這是一個看似愚蠢,但是卻很現實的問題,我迄今爲止還沒有從任何一個同事(前後幾個項目中的同事)那裏獲知到相對完整的描述。首先一點,我們可以很粗暴的認爲,一個Java進程運行在一個JVM實例上,那麼JVM參數配置必然和這個進程的啓動配置相關。
再者,學習Java之初,我們運行的第一個“Hello World”難道不是跑在main方法中嗎?不論當前程序是通過各種IDE工具啓動的,還是通過各種容器啓動的,都脫不開一個入口函數。
所以,對於JVM參數的配置,一定和當前項目的具體運行模式相關,且一點在入口函數被調用之前完成參數配置。
2.1 JavaApplication的參數配置入口
我本機上最近剛把IDEA卸載了,所以只有Eclipse在用,我們在看一下常規運行一個Java Application時,如何進行參數配置:
把標籤頁切換至Arguments時,兩個選項Program arguments和VM arguments,分別對應於main(String[] args)的args參數和JVM運行參數,一般工具上的參數配置均通過空格進行分割。
由於我本機上沒有IEDA我從網絡上找到一個圖貼在下面:
IDEA中把JVM參數選項標記爲VM options。
2.2 IDE工具的參數配置入口
當然,上述部分都是針對IDE工具執行入口函數時的JVM參數配置,我們知道諸如Eclipse等工具,大多也是Java實現的,那麼工具本身就是一個Java進程咯,以前只聽說過服務端的JVM參數配置,今天擴展下視野,開發工具本身也能進行內存調優。
有其是早一些的Eclipse版本,再加上性能略微落後的設備,常常導致開啓Eclipse幾分鐘,恨的人牙癢癢,這時候就需要我們對工具進行參數調優了。
先看一下工具的參數配置在哪裏,我現在寫博客的電腦是一臺Mac,如果是Win環境的請看官自己搜一下,而且Eclipse的安裝還分爲綠色(自行選定一個安裝位置,安裝是無需任何系統配置,解壓直接就可以使用)安裝和系統安裝,我的工具採用的安裝模式爲後者,所以想看Eclipse的參數配置需要按如下步驟執行:
- 進入/Applications/Eclipse.app/Contents/Eclipse
- 查看eclipse.ini配置文件
eclipse.ini文件就是它的全局參數配置,查看下內容:

可以很清楚看到–vmargs下的所有於JVM相關的配置,至於參數如何,又該怎麼配置,放到後續的博客裏說明。
同樣的,IDEA也有類似的配置 ,並且在不同的內存架構(32和64位處理器不同)下,提供了idea.exe.vmoptions和idea64.exe.vmoptions兩個不同的配置文件,按需修改即可。
2.2 WEB容器的參數配置入口
常規的WEB項目大多采用Tomcat,當然還有其他的WEB服務器可供選擇。這種場景下,Java進程不受開發者控制,全部交由容器管理,那麼配置必然需要從容器自身下手,這裏就以Tomcat爲例(我本機上裝了Tomcat)。
瞭解Tomcat啓動過程的盆友會知道,啓動配置文件是catalina.bat/sh(windows下腳本文件格式爲bat,linux下的shell腳本格式爲sh)。我本機是綠色安裝的,進入到Tomcat的bin目錄可以查閱到該文件,因爲文件內容過大,這裏不貼了。不過可以確定的是,JVM參數設置以“JAVA_OPTS”開頭,我們把這一段截出來:

上面一段是catalina配置文件的註釋部分,說的是JAVA_OPTS爲控制JVM參數的配置,如需調整僅增加這部分配置即可,比如說補充如下參數配置:

2.3 服務端進程的配置入口
這部分其實和WEB容器的配置是一樣的,因爲進程啓動都是通過腳本調起的,那麼只需要調整腳本邏輯,補充JVM參數配置即可。
以我們目前服務端的啓動腳本(windows腳本和linux腳本略有區別,因爲語法不一樣,但是內容無差別)舉例,如下是sh腳本內容:

這段腳本的邏輯大致是說,先將lib目錄下的所有jar添加至CLASSPATH下,也就是Java運行時用以尋找二進制文件的路徑,然後設置JVM爲server服務端模式,再然後是JVM的其他參數配置,接下來就是遠程調試端口配置,最後是主類入口,及主類的main函數的參數。
三 查看JVM配置信息
Java提供了兩個指令用來查閱JVM配置信息,第一個-XX:+PrintFlagsInitial 用來顯示有所有可配置參數及默認值,我們在控制檯輸出一下:
