Grammar
the usage of "but and therefore, "
- but 作爲連詞，可以連接兩個並列成分或兩個並列分句，意爲 “但是，然而”。例如：He is young but very experienced. 注意： but 不要與 though/although連用。例如下面的句子是錯誤的：Although he is young, but very experienced （grammatically wrong）.
- therefore 意爲 “因此”。該詞本身是副詞，但在句中起連接作用，一般不放句末。一是用在簡單句句首或句中；在句首時，後面要有逗號。例如：Therefore, we must learn English well. 二是用在並列句中，其中一部分表示原因，一部分表示結果。例如：These birds are very beautiful and therefore liked by many people.
- Mary likes classical music, but her husband likes rock music.
- We were unable to get funding and therefore had to abandon the project.
