我曾聽過他的兩段訪談，分別是在2008年電影《畫皮1》之後和2012年電影《畫皮2》之後，他的這兩段訪談都是在解釋他爲什麼忽然停了下來、暫時不再演戲。

1.我的能力達不到我想拍攝的角色了，我要去充充電。

……這並不是我挑三揀四，刻意規劃我的生活。我只是想把演員這碗飯喫得長一點，因爲我可能最多再演10年的戲。
I feel panic. There are a lot of people who pay more than Huapi 2, but the script is not good enough. I found myself being led away by greed. I couldn't help but panic. I think, Chen Kun, if you are like this, you will not be NB enough, and your plays will not be NB enough.
…… It's not that I'm picky and deliberately planning my life. I just want to make the actor's bowl longer, because I may play for another 10 years at most.
