與印度同事閒聊了幾句關於努力工作的事情，老印同事說有位印度大師說過 - “世界上沒有任何事情，可以代替努力工作。”
聽了之後，覺得很有一種印度雞湯的感覺，細想一下覺得這個大師講得還似乎有些哲理。問問同事你把這個高僧的名字拼寫出來，自然是第一次聽說，而且查不到中文翻譯。關於上面的那句轉述，我只查到了一句類似的話 - “This life is a hard fact; work your way through it boldly, though it may be adamantine; no matter, the soul is stronger.” 其實其他的名人也有類似的說法。
選讀了幾十條這個印度高僧的名言，哇，果然外來的和尚會念經，有一些講的很有意思的話。
“Arise, awake and donot stop until the goal is reached.”
晨起，警醒，不懈努力，直到達到目的。
“You cannot believe in God until you believe in yourself.”
只有相信自己，才能相信神祉。
“You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.”
一個人必須從自身成長。外人不可能教你學會，不可能付於你靈性。你的靈魂是你唯一的老師。
“We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far.”
我們是自己思想的產物，三思而行，不修華辭。思想會永存，會傳播甚遠。
“Condemn none: if you can stretch out a helping hand, do so. If you cannot, fold your hands, bless your brothers, and let them go their own way.”
不要惡評他人： 如果你可以伸手助人，那就盡力。如果你無力相助，收起手來爲他們祝福，讓他們走自己的路。
“The world is the great gymnasium where we come to make ourselves strong.”
世界像是一個大型體育館，我們在這裏讓自己變得強壯。
“That man has reached immortality who is disturbed by nothing material.”
不以物喜，會讓一個人走向不朽。
“If you want to have life, you have to die every moment for it. Life and death are only different expressions of the same thing looked at from different standpoints; they are the falling and the rising of the same wave, and the two form one whole.”
如果你想要真正的生活，你每時每刻都要冒着死的精神去努力。生命與死亡是對同一事物從不同立足點的不同表述而已，它們像是湧起和落下的波浪，是一體二面。
“In a day, when you don’t come across any problems – you can be sure that you are travelling in a wrong path.”
假如有一天，你沒有遇到煩心之事，你一定是行走在錯誤的路上。
“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.”
選定一個理念，讓那個念頭貫徹你的一切生活，醒着時思考它，睡覺中夢見它，生活中實踐它。讓大腦，肌肉，神經，身體的每一個部分都充滿了這個理念，放棄一切雜念。這是唯一的成功之路。
“Dare to be free, dare to go as far as your thought leads, and dare to carry that out in your life.”
要敢於解放自己，敢於讓自己的思想引領到遠方，敢於把思想付諸行動。
施咓密 - Swami Vivekananda （01/12/1863 – 07/04/1902），是一位印度教的近代高僧，宗教家和哲學家，他提倡各種宗教的包容。在論及不同類別的宗教時，這個高僧說 - 我就像一個坐在印度教水井的井底之蛙，與那些信奉其他宗教的人類似。
施咓密在一百多年前出席了在芝加哥的世界宗教大會，在簡短的演講中以 - “美州的兄弟和姐妹們”開始致詞，引發全場與會代表的經久掌聲，從此被知名和介紹到西方和歐洲，在美國出版印度教和大王瑜伽的著書，成爲一代宗師。
這位高僧，生命短暫，影響長久。爲了紀念高僧和鼓勵後人，印度的青年節選在施咓密的生日那一天，印度印發過高僧頭像的郵票。
