For long, I was wondering that how people can find their salvation without religious beliefs. How can they settle down in this windy and confusing world. Today, I find Stephen Covey shed some lights on my exploration.
People nowadays no longer put emphasize on the cultivation of moral character. The modern approach of success is to fake some facial techniques and exploit profit excess to what you shall have.
Teacher is not be respected. And they are not trained as being a teacher who shall be role model of people but just doing a job as a teacher who can be easily substitute by video tapes or dictionary.
Violent and sex without commitment are being spread all over internet and every window that you can access information.
Laws are changing as well. Mental problems now can be excuses of not being responsible. Divorces and abortions are easily allowed.
In a word, the unstable situation I felt was shaped by several forces that eroded the underlying value system of the society.
If people want to survive through the shaken world, they now have to use their inner power to maintain what was used to maintained by outer forces, ie., laws, teachers, textbooks.
Without moral principle sits in one's heart, people are drifting in the airs. Replace moral values as corner stones may be a way to lead a life with sense and happiness.
