Digital Contrast Optimization – A faster and better method for optimizing system MTF

In a traditional MTF optimization, the Merit Function would contain just one line, and the optimization would internally determine the sensitivity of the final MTF value to each variable. In the case of Digital Contrast Optimization, the optimization routine can determine the sensitivity of each wavefront difference for each variable specified. This drastically increases the amount of information available to the optimization routine, which causes the optimization to converge more quickly and to a better final result.

在传统的MTF优化中,优值函数只包含一行,优化将在内部确定最终MTF值对每个变量的敏感性。在数字对比度优化的情况下,优化程序可以确定每个指定变量的每个波前差的灵敏度。这极大地增加了优化过程可用的信息量,从而使优化更快地收敛,得到更好的最终结果。

This new technique allows for robust and efficient on the system MTF at a given spatial frequency. The method minimizes the wavefront differences between pairs of rays separated by a pupil shift corresponding to the targeted spatial frequency, which maximizes the MTF.

该方法在给定空间频率对MTF进行有效优化,最大限度地减小了由目标空间频率对应的光瞳位移分离的一对光之间的波前差异,从而最大限度地提高了MTF。

The optimization will tend to choose a solution that has a higher MTF at the specified spatial frequency and allows the MTF to degrade for frequencies elsewhere.

Also like other MTF optimizations, Digital Contrast Optimization should be applied to systems that are not diffraction-limited. For diffraction-limited systems, the shape of the MTF is predetermined so that optimizing directly on wavefront or on MTF will give largely identical results.

和其他MTF优化一样,数字对比度优化应该应用于不受衍射限制的系统。对于有限衍射系统,MTF的形状是预先确定的,因此直接在波前或MTF上进行优化将得到大致相同的结果。
