Deucalion（丢卡利翁）
Deucalion and his wife Pyrrha were an old childless（无子女的） couple, kind and pious（虔诚的） and contented（满足的） with life.
丢卡利翁和他的妻子皮拉是一对善良虔诚的孤寡老人。
Having been forewarned by his father Prometheus of the forthcoming flood, he had made himself a huge chest. When the deluge（洪水） came, the couple took refuge（避难） in it and floated for nine days until it touched land again on Mt. Parnassus.
因为事先得到了父亲普罗米修斯的警告，丢卡利翁做了一只大箱子。当大洪水来临之际，他们躲在箱子里逃过一劫。在漂流了九天九夜之后，他们在帕纳塞斯山重新踏上陆地。
Feeling lonely and insecure, the old couple prayed to the gods for help. An oracle（神谕） instructed them to cast the bones of their mothers about. They were perplexed（迷惑的） as to the meaning of the command, but at length（最后） both agreed that by the bones of their mothers were meant the stones of the earth.
出于孤独和恐惧，他们祈求神明的帮助。神谕指示他们将母亲的骨头扔向四周，他们对此迷惑不解，后来终于达成一致，认为母亲就是大地，骨头就是石头。
Accordingly they took up stones from the mountain side and started throwing them over their shoulders.
于是，他们捡起山上的石头朝身后扔去。
Miraculously, from those thrown by Deucalion there sprang up（出现） men, and from those thrown by Pyrrha, women. Thus the world was repopulated, and a new life began.
奇迹出现了：丢卡利翁扔出去的石头都变成了男人，皮拉扔出去的石头都变成了女人，整个世界又恢复了人类的欢声笑语。
The word deuce means something representing or represented by the number two. It is derived from the prefix deu- or duo- . For instance, duet refers to a performance by two singers, instrumentalists or dancers.
英语中deuce这个词指的是数字二，它起源于deu-或duo-这个前缀。例如：duet的意思是二重唱或二重奏
Double means a thing which is twice as large as usual, and to duplicate, to multiply by two.
double的意思是两倍，而duplicate的意思就是乘以二。
