適讀年齡：5-8歲
瞧，這個一臉生氣、頭戴藍色帽子、身穿藍色揹帶褲的小女孩是Susie。她爲什麼生氣呢，原來呀她不想睡午覺！爸爸想了好多方法讓Susie變累變困，可是最後呢，Susie沒睡着，爸爸自己倒是累睡着了。
"It's Susie's nap time, " Dad said.
爸爸說，“Susie的午睡時間到了”。
Susie shook her head." No nap. Susie isn't tired."
Susie卻搖搖頭說，“不想睡午覺。Susie不累”。
"Then we'll go for a walk first."
“要不，我們先去散會兒步吧。”
Dad zipped Susie into her jacket and buttoned himself into his coat.
爸爸給Susie穿上夾克衫，給自己穿上外套。
They walkedpast the playground, past the swings, past the man selling pretzels on the corner, and home.
他們走過操場，經過鞦韆，路過街角賣椒鹽捲餅的小商販，然後回到了家。
Dad unzipped Susie's jacket and unbuttoned his coat.
爸爸脫下Susie的夾克衫，解開自己的外套。
"Are you nice and tired now, Sweetie?" he asked."
他問，“小甜心，你現在覺得累了嗎？”
No nap, "Susie said,"We'll dance,"Dad said."Dancing is very tiring."
Susie回答，“不想睡午覺。”爸爸說，“我們跳舞吧，跳舞很累人的！”
They boogied and bongoed and did the creepy camel.
於是，他們隨着音樂跳舞打鼓，模仿步履緩慢的駱駝走路。
"No nap,"Susie said.
Susie還是說，“不想睡午覺。”
"Let's do some exercises, "Dad said.
爸爸說，“讓我們一起做運動吧。
"Want to, Susie?"
Susie，想嗎？”
They did push-ups, and windmills,
他們一起做俯臥撐，翻跟斗，
and stood on their heads.
還有倒立。
"I bet you're tired now, Susie?"Dad said.
爸爸說，“我敢肯定你現在肯定累了，Susie？”
Susie shook her dead." No nap. "
Susie還是搖搖頭，“不想睡午覺。”
"Grrr,"Dad growled in a voice like a lion.
“額，” 爸爸低聲咕噥着，聲音像獅子一樣。
"I'm going to tell you a story, Susie.
“我給你講個故事吧，Susie。
I'm going to sing you a song.
我給你唱首歌。
Then you'll lie down like a good little girl.
然後，你像乖乖的小女孩一樣躺下來。
Daddy promised Mommy that Susie would take a nap. "
爸爸答應過媽媽，Susie會睡午覺的。”
"No nap,"Susie said.
“不想睡午覺。” Susie說。
Dad slumped on Susie's bed.
爸爸癱坐在Susie的牀上。
"Teddy's napping.Dolly's napping.
“泰迪睡着了，Dolly睡着了。
The big, yellow dump truck is napping.
這輛黃色的大卡車睡着了。
Come lie next to Daddy. "
過來躺在爸比旁邊。”
Susie lay down.
Susie躺了下來。
"Susie needs a drink of water,"she said.
Susie說，“Susie想要一杯水。”
"I'll get it,"Dad said."You stay here, nice and quiet."
爸爸說，“我去拿，你待在這裏，乖乖地，安安靜靜地。”
"Susie needs her balloon,"she said,
Susie說，“Susie需要她的氣球，
"and her hat with the flowers on it,
還有她那頂有花在上面的帽子，
and her bubbles, and her sunglasses.
還有她的泡泡，還有她的太陽鏡。”
"Susie needs her pink socks, too,
Susie說，“Susie也需要她的粉紅色襪子，
and her tumble money,"Susie said.
還有她的零花錢。”
"OK?" Dad sat on the bed and took Susie's hand.
“這樣好嗎？”爸爸坐在牀上，拉着Susie的小手說。
"Let's pretend we're little mice,so warm and snuggly here in our mouse bed."
“讓我們一起假裝我們是兩隻小老鼠，暖洋洋地，舒服地蜷縮在我們的小老鼠牀上。”
He lay down and closed his eyes. "Sleepy little mice who don't talk and who don't move and who stay very, very quiet. "
說完，他躺下來，閉上了眼睛，“好睏好睏的小老鼠，不講話，不動，非常、非常安靜的躺着。”
"Daddy?" Susie whispered. But Dad didn't answer.
“爸比？” Susie輕聲呼喚着。但是，爸爸沒有回答。
"Daddy,I love you."Susie put her glasses on Dad's nose and her hat with the flowers on his head. She kissed his chin beneath his snore.
“爸比，我愛你。” Susie把她的太陽鏡放到爸爸的鼻子上，把她那頂有花在上面的帽子戴在他的頭上。在爸爸的如雷鼾聲下，她親了親爸爸的下巴。
"Yoo-hoo!" someone called. Susie jumped up. "Mommy's home."
“喲呼！” 聽， 有個人在喊。Susie跳了起來，“媽咪回來了！”
Mom ran in the room, swept Susie up, and hugged her tight.
媽媽跑進房間，一把抱起Susie，緊緊地摟在懷裏。
She glanced around. " What in the world happened here?"
她環顧四周，“這裏究竟發生了什麼事情？”
"Shhh!" Susie whispered. "Poor Daddy got tired. He's napping."
“噓！”Susie輕聲說，“可憐的爸比太累了，她正在睡覺。”
"And what about you, little girl?"Mom asked.
媽媽問，“那你呢，小女孩？”
"No nap,"Susie said.
“不想睡午覺，” Susie回答。
