The official Sina Weibo account of the Guinness World Records announced on Tuesday that Chinese vlogger Li Ziqi broke the world record for “Most subscribers for a Chinese language channel on YouTube” set by herself with 14.1 million subscribers on Jan 25.
吉尼斯世界紀錄官方微博2月2日宣佈，1月25日，中國短視頻博主@李子柒 以1410萬的YouTube訂閱量刷新了由她創下的“最多訂閱量的YouTube中文頻道”的吉尼斯世界紀錄稱號。

這裏的subscriber指視頻頻道的“訂閱用戶”，而我們打電話時聽到的“the subscriber you dialed is busy now”中subscriber指的是“電信服務用戶”，所以，這個詞通常表示“付費給某個機構以得到某種定期服務的人”，來自於動詞形式subscribe，而“訂閱”這個行爲或服務就是subscription。不過，在互聯網內容大量湧現的今天，很多內容服務都是可以免費訂閱的。當然，也有一些提供付費訂閱服務的平臺。
付費訂閱（pay-to-read/paid content）服務一般分爲：單次訂閱（pay as you read）、周訂閱（weekly subscription service）、包月訂閱（monthly subscription service）、包年訂閱（yearly subscription service）等。

吉尼斯世界紀錄官方微博表示：

去年7月首創世界紀錄
Li uploaded her first video on YouTube, about how to make a dress using the cloth dyed with color extracted from grape skin, in 2017.
2017年，李子柒在YouTube發佈第一支視頻“用葡萄皮染的布做裙子”。
She went viral overseas afterwards with her short videos about cooking Chinese food, making traditional Chinese handicrafts such as embroidery and living an idyllic rural life in China.
之後，她用短視頻展現中國食物的烹製過程、製作刺繡等傳統中國手工藝品以及鄉村田園生活，在海外走紅。

“走紅”有兩個常用的英文表達，一個是go viral，另一個是become a hit。前者表示某件事或者現象就像病毒一樣迅速傳播開來，所以用viral這個詞，它是virus（病毒）的形容詞形式；後者當中的hit作名詞時本身就有“風行一時的事物”之意。
比如：Some apps can quickly go viral and gain millions of users.（有些應用程序會迅速走紅並獲得數百萬的用戶。）The song became a massive hit in 1998.（這首歌在1998年風靡大江南北。）
On July 16 last year, she had 11.4 million subscribers on YouTube, breaking the Guinness record at the time.
2020年7月16日，李子柒獲得1140萬的YouTube訂閱，打破了當時的吉尼斯世界紀錄。

1. set a record
They want to set a record by making Buffalo's largest cookie.
他們想打破巴甫洛最大的曲奇的紀錄。
I checked the sales receipts, and we've just set a record.
我看過了營業額，我們剛創下新紀錄。
【小知識】
如果說set/put the record straight，就跟打破記錄沒多大關係了，它的意思是陳述真相；澄清是非。
She's decided to write her memoirs to set the record straight once and for all.她決定撰寫回憶錄以徹底澄清事實。
2. chalk up records
chalk sth up的意思是獲（勝）；得（分），比如：
Today's victory is the fifth that the Irish team has chalked up this year.
今天的勝利是愛爾蘭隊今年獲得的第5次勝利。
New world records in the track and field events are chalked up from time to time in the past few years.
近幾年來經常出現新的世界田徑紀錄。
3. create/establish/make/register a new record
She established a new European record in the high jump.
她創造了歐洲跳高的新紀錄。
4. beat/smash/shatter a previous record
beat、smash和shatter都有打、打破的意思，這幾個詞是不是比break更激烈更生動呢？
She beat the world record in the three events she entered on her way to two gold medals and a silver.
她在三項競賽中打破了世界紀錄，獲得兩枚金牌和一枚銀牌。
The film shattered all previous box office records.
這部電影打破了以往所有的票房紀錄。
5. surpass all previous records
surpass的意思是超過，優於，勝過，比如：
His time for the 100 meters surpassed the previous world record by one hundredth of a second.
他以0.01秒的優勢打破了100米短跑的前世界紀錄。
形容出乎意料就可以用到這個詞哦：
The book's success has surpassed everyone's expectations.
這本書獲得了出乎所有人意料的成功。
口語裏也有刷新記錄的表達，可以翻譯爲：
amend/rewrite/renew/better/improve a record。

① go on record 公開發表（意見等）；公開表明（觀點）
Everything that is said between them will go on record.
他們的談話都要記錄下來.
② off the record 私下說的；不供發表的
She made it clear that her comments were strictly off the record.
她說得很清楚，她的這些評論絕不許對外公佈。
③ on the record 公開發表；公開表明
None of the company directors were prepared to comment on the record yesterday.
昨天，公司董事沒有哪個準備公開發表意見。
